Colour: Green straw, reflecting full barrel fermentation in two- and six-year-old oak barrels
Aroma: Four years of maturation brings a developed, slightly funky, enticing aroma
Palate: Unexpectedly juicy, with layer upon layer of texture
Wow. This isn't your grandmother's Sauvignon Blanc. The intensity of the fruit is toned down through use of barrel maturation and ageing at the winery (the currently released vintage is four years old) and this allows other, more subtle characteristics to come through. It is not about impact, it is about texture, richness and complexity. The beauty of the wine creeps up on you, so don’t drink it in too much of a hurry. A truly unique, handcrafted wine.
Winemaker's Note: "This is the second release of our reserve sauvignon. We love sauvignon and believe in its quality and character. This wine is intended to be a clear expression of Orange regional sauvignon – just a different type of expression. The philosophy of ‘less is more’ is our approach – a little less impact and a little more complexity. Made in much the same way as barrel fermented chardonnay (but without the new oak), this is a complex and textural wine that puts sauvignon in a different light." - Drew Tuckwell
