The nose shows lifted aromas of cedar and cigar box, blackberries, dark spices, tar and leather. The full rich palate of blackberries, leather and spice has fine savoury tannins and exceptional length.
Beautifully presented under cork and with a wax seal. The gorgeous weighty bottle alone is worthy of awards. A special wine to gift or to keep.

“Saturated deep red/purple colour. The bouquet is very ripe and appealing, with sweet blackberry to black cherry nuances, these flavours translating faithfully onto the very full-bodied palate. A powerful, deep-flavoured wine, with excellent structure and generous tannins. It has great balance in spite of its bigness. A luxurious wine.”

“Impenetrable, inky black colour with intensely concentrated black fruit, deep plum, spice and expensive chocolate richness. The wine, despite its big intense style, retains buoyancy and freshness of fruit. It is a powerhouse of a wine that will cellar for many years. A genuine tour de force.”

“This is a reserve release from Ulithorne and sits at the very top end of wines from McLaren Vale. It’s a wine of great concentration but maintains and elegance and finesse that exudes class. A dark red in the glass the nose has a beautiful combination of fruit and oak with dark plum fruit given an aromatic, seductive lift of vanillin oak and a background note of leather that takes it to another plane. The palate is awash with dark chocolate and plum fruit, oak gives richness, texture and depth with a flowing line of acidity that keeps the wines richer characters in check. The finish has a drying, earthen web of tannins and layers of dark berry fruit and chocolate notes.”

“Voluptuous and sumptuous, this gorgeous shiraz is made from grapes grown on their single vineyard planted in 1969. The powerful bouquet shows blackberry, dark plum, cedar and vanilla characters with subtle espresso and mixed spice complexity. The palate displays considerable weight and power, together with awesome fruit purity and intensity, wonderfully framed by velvety texture and polished tannins. A seriously good shiraz offering outstanding richness and length.”

“From estate vines planted in ’69, The colour is still a deep, dense crimson-purple, heralding and ultra-powerful and dense wine, its black fruit with an earthy, savoury undertow, licorice, spice and bitter chocolate all present to a lesser or greater degree. Needs time to welcome visitors.”

“Smooth, unctuous and seamless, this opulently fruited shiraz is steeped in flavours of dark plums, blackberries, cassis and blueberries knit with fine-grained cedary oak and supported by a firmish, mineral and gravelly spine. It becomes more floral and perfumed with aeration.”
